Visit of the relics of St Therese to Roebuck

From 28th March – 4th April we had the joy of having the relics of St Therese visit us. It was a truly marvelous and grace filled time. St Therese’s friends came from far and near to visit her daily. From 6.40am -10.00pm there was a steady flow of visitors to venerate the relics and pray quietly in the Chapel. Everyone who visited had the opportunity to stay as long as they liked and pray near the relics. All joined in the prayers of the Divine Office as we prayed the “hours” throughout the day. Night prayer was particularly well attended each night at 9.00 as was daily Mass.

We are so grateful to the host of volunteers who made it possible for us to have the relics open to the public. Without them it could not have been done. So many of you who came to visit the relics testified to the kindness and welcome you received from all the stewards. They gave so generously of their time and energy to make the visit so pleasant for everyone. We thank all those who helped with the music and singing for the Masses and Divine Office, often coming two and three times daily!

Most days during the week the Sacrament of Reconciliation was available from 2.00pm – 9.00pm. We thank most sincerely all the Priests who gave their time generously during what was a busy week for them, being the week before Holy Week.

We enjoyed meeting the local schools who came to visit and thank them on behalf of St Therese for the wonderful prayer service and singing.

For ourselves it was a joy to have our Carmelite Sister among us. When all the visitors were gone home at night and in the early mornings we had her to ourselves to whisper in her ear. We prayed to her for all our intentions, for our families and friends, for all the intentions that had been left with her during the day and for all of you who ask for our prayers for your intentions. It was a special time for us to be in the presence of one of our Sisters whom we know is spending her Heaven doing good on earth.
