Welcome to our Carmel at Roebuck, Dublin, IRELAND

We are a praying community of sisters who have freely chosen to respond to God's call to a life of prayer for the Church and all God's people.

Our monastery is located in enclosed grounds in the southern suburbs of Dublin where we are provided with a quiet setting for both communal and private prayer; for work and recreation; for reading and study.

Most people would probably be surprised at the variety in the daily rhythm of life of a Carmelite.

As you learn more about our purpose and our way of life during your visit to our web site - we ask to be remembered in your prayers.

We hope you enjoy your visit and find reason to return.

The Monastery of the Immaculate Conception was founded in Dublin City on the 14th. August 1830.

In 1877, again on the 14th. August, the community transferred to a larger house at Roebuck then in the County of Dublin. The house was originally known as Mount Dillon. When the nuns came to occupy it in 1877, they renamed it and called it Mount Carmel.
